The Quaker Ridge Elementary School in Scarsdale was evacuated on Wednesday morning out of precaution, after a threat was found in the building. The nature of the threat was not disclosed by police.
Students were temporarily relocated to an off-site location, according to school officials, which is in line with district emergency protocols. While students were out of the building, members of the Scarsdale Police Department and the Westchester County Bomb Squad conducted a security sweep of the building using canine units.
All students and staff were removed from the building without incident. No further information has been disseminated regarding the threat.
“Although a determination was made that the threat was not credible, a decision to evacuate students and staff from the school was made in collaboration with our Chief of Safety, Security, and Emergency Management and the Scarsdale Police Department,” school officials wrote on the district website. “This decision was made out of an abundance of caution and allowed law enforcement to conduct further inspection of the school.”
